AN INTRO TO PAPERCLIP
Paperclip is an online buy and sell marketplace, that acts as a ’social inventory’ where people can buy, (soon to be) rent or borrow. Paperclip’s aim is to tackle over-consumption and the throwaway culture of the western world. “Why does every household on a street need to own a power-drill or lawnmower? The average power-drill owner uses it for less than 2 minutes per year”.
In my position at Paperclip, I am responsible for the design of all UX/UI updates and features for both the web and app, iterating upon these after team feedback and testing. These UX/UI projects include:
-
Listings never leave: a new process where the buyer of an item can re-list it super quickly when they no longer want it, using part of the information the original seller uploaded (making the time to upload much faster)
-
The addition of rental: users will be able to buy, sell and rent all on one platform
-
Paperclip credit: credit can be given to users as part of promotional activity & refer a friend bonus
-
Lifetime commissions: original sellers can earn commission each time the item they originally uploaded is resold
-
The streamlining of multi-screen flows to one screen within the marketplace: add item, checkout, make offer
-
And many more.

LIFETIME COMMISSIONS
LIFETIME COMMISSIONS: THE BRIEF
Lifetime Commissions is a concept where the original seller of an item will get a commission of X% every time the item is resold. I was tasked to design how this will be visible to the original seller.

LIST AN ITEM & ITEM OVERVIEW
-
Signifies to user that they are original seller
-
Shows sale history to user, including 1st sale
WALLET - LIFETIME COMMISSIONS

-
Takes user to item overview, can view further
details of the item, such as current sale price,
current seller, sale history
SOME OF THE ASSETS & PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS CREATED FOR PAPERCLIP
As well as designing the UX/UI at Paperclip, I organise and coordinate a small 2-person Graphic Design team, providing support, direction and collaborating with our Junior Designer.

PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PAPERCLIP RENT
Paperclip has a partnership with Student Roost, a student housing provider. During a trial of rental, at a select few of Student Roost’s locations, we required promotional imagery and product photos to promote the items and kick-start rentals. These were initially bikes, e-bikes, VR headset and karaoke.
